About the Theater

In search of a theater that, literally, was the venue for discussion of thoughts, of emotions, and entertainment to promote culture and art in the city of Camaçari that was designed and built the Theater of the CIDADE DO SABER (TCS), the second largest in capacity in the whole state of Bahia, with the provision of 568 places. Until the opening of this modern cultural equipment, the council had only one theater, which had no conditions of operation and not offered any comfort to the public and therefore not accounted for the attraction of art groups, artists and viewers.

Then, from the day on March 22, 2007, when it was open to the public, the City Theater of Knowledge is – through a diverse cultural arts programming, attractive and quality – offering art, culture and recreation for the community camaçariense.

The demand of public for the theater is quite satisfactory, so little time for activities and also from the fact that Camaçari experienced with the lack of adequate space for artistic presentation and lack of encouragement of theatrical production and development of culture the city (which does not favour the formation of audience).  There have been hundreds of presentations, dozens of different theater, music and dance between them VIXE MARIA DEUS E O DIABO NA BAHIA, Ó PAÍ Ó, ESSE GALUBER, O VÔO DA ASA BRANCA, A GEMA DO OVO DA EMA, RÁDIO BIRUTA, EKA MELEKA , The ballet of Theatre Castro Alves, Symphonic Orchestra of Bahia, A BOFETADA, ESSE GLAUBER,   R$ 1.99, O CASAMENTO SUSPEITOSO, ZÉU BRITO, POLICARPO QUARESMA, O SAPATO DO MEU TIO, O GRANDE CRIADOR (the Portuguese Cia’s Chapitô),  OS CAFAJESTES, O INDIGNADO and the public is higher than the registered trademark of 60 thousand spectators (end 2009) and worth emphasizing, many of these people,   who make up this number of accesses to the equipment, had never gone to such a cultural or even seen a show.

Today, the City Theater of Knowledge became the benchmark for artistic community camaçariense, as well as from other municipalities, including El Salvador, since this equipment opened more public and cultural space for the artists and productions in the state. Besides the population of Camaçari, people from other municipalities are also benefited by this action, for example, residents of Dias D’Ávila and Simões Filho; places geographically close and where there is disclosure of the theater shows.
